„The more elaborate our means of communication the less we communicate.” Joseph Priestley

Communication is the imparting or exchanging of information or news.

In my opinion - if taken literally – it is not a big debate firstly, because of how I see that communication has changed during the last 10 or more years along with the rising popularity of the Internet; secondly because it seems to be human nature to receive and give back more information and lastly because we are social animals, always looking to expand our social circle.

Due to the fact that the World Wide Web has become what it is today we can now enjoy sharing of experiences by means of pictures, sound, video or text and, to the best of my knowledge, people tend to use them the best they can, the most they can, hence the popularity of social networks. Furthermore Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) have changed the way we communicate, having introduced emotions and gestures to the means by which we can share experience.

Needless to say that due to the more elaborate means of communication a lot of otherwise socially impaired people have found ways to overcome their so-called deficiencies(in lack of a better word) and have come to be socially literate, thus encouraging them – if taken figuratively – to experiment more social dynamics in real life.

To put it briefly, the more elaborate our means of communication, the more social we become, the MORE we communicate.
